The Top Ten Things You Need To Know About Eyebrows...

1. The eyebrow should start at the inner corner of your eye. It should extend to the outer edge of the eye in line with the edge of the nose.  The highest part or arch is mostly recommended to align with the tip of the nose and then to align with the pupil.

2. They frame your face and all of your features... so please stop making them too thin, too short, and too sparse. They should look as natural as possible.. (the shape of a comma or jack-o-lantern brow is not okay for anyone..)

3. We know that mistakes occur in the world of eyebrow maintenance. Should you find yourself in a pickle, we totally recommend Laura Geller's Long Lasting Eyebrow Marker. It is not too dark and does not smudge.

4. We shape a lot of brows in the salon/make-up studio. Our tool of choice is a wax pot. Waxing has become the norm for most of our clients. The question I seem to answer the most is "Why do I break out after a wax service?" The reason is that the root of the hair follicle, the papilla, is located directly above the sebaceous gland. The sebaceous gland secretes oil. When the follicle is removed, it stimulates the sebaceous gland and it is similar to an exploding volcano of oil. Most places then apply a cooling gel, or redness reducer.. thus clogging the pore. My suggestion is to use a very very fine talc. The talc will absorb excess oil with out clogging the pore. THEN LEAVE IT ALONE!!! Being product junkies, we know how hard it is to put the products down.. but for the love of god, walk away.

5.  Pluckorexia. The worst thing about pluckorexia is that those that have it.... usually have no idea. It takes an awesome friend to help you put the tweezers down. Cameron was that friend for me. We were getting ready to go out on the town in NYC one night and she just told me ... "Girl, you need to stop fooling with your eyebrows." I took a step back and help my heart for a second. I turned, looked in the mirror and then..... SHIT! She was right. I let my eyebrows grow for about 3 months with NO maintenance. Then Cameron, also a stylist, re-shaped them for me.  There are two lessons to be learned from this story...  1. Don't let your friends walk around with eyebrows that look like footprints on a treasure map and 2. LISTEN when your friends try to help you out with your look. For the growing in period, we like the Sonia Kashuk® Brow Kit Arch Alert Palette (at Target for $9.99) It is a powder mixed with a wax. It will hold everything in it's proper place and define while you get your brows back!
